Story
was the usual masala - Vijayan the inspector and rajini a thief
are brothers who get separated in childhood. When they meet in a
strange situation vijayan is thrown out of the train and Rajini
lands in the village as inspector and events following that is the
story. Rathi who performs dance in the street helps rajini and steals
his heart.
Illayaraja had lot to do with the Background score and had some
good chance to prove in the dance sequences for Rathi.
Former being the romantic love duet between Rajinikanth
and Rathi. While latter is typical dance number for Rathi. Both
the extreme situations well handled by IR and aptly written lyrics
by Vaali.
Rathi – illiterate village girl has to sing
casually which is brought out by P.Suseela . See the way she ends
each “urasa” in each line and sums up when she sings
“ poova kaatha urasa “ the exact manner in which a
village girl sings.
Rajini – he comes to village though not
born in village gets adapted to that atmosphere gives a mix of
village and a normal behaviour is brought out easily by S.P.B
This is yet another gem by SPB-PS duo!!
Flow of music throughout the song takes us to
the village atmosphere – that’s IR’s creativity.
Vaali - asusual takes up simple words with
village nativity and carves a neat poem out of that which takes
the shape of kaathodu poo urasa.
