Within two years of the success of Muratu Kalai again AVM joined for the second time with Rajini for the movie Pokkiri Raja. Rajini did a dual role in this film and the heroines in the lead were SriDevi and Radhika. People saw Rajini for 73rd time on the screen. Both the roles were handled beautifully by Rajini. The role played by Pokkiri was little bit humorous and the slang was completely different. The song Kadavul Padachyan had a good reach among the people. It was a total masala movie suited to serve Tamil audience.
